Storify is a social media tool that allows users to create stories, streams or timelines that relays content from other social platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, blogs, among many others. It is particularly useful when users want to curate a collection of content from various online sources and social platforms, especially when it is relating to a certain topic, demographic, or event.

You can see in the embedded Storify timeline below, that it is a collection of content linked from various social media and online sources. Although each piece of content originates from differing social platforms, they all pertain to the same topic, which is the importance of content curation when building social media strategies. This Storify stream is especially interesting as it champions the need of social media content curation on a social platform that primarily focuses on content curation.

Content curation in a sense is reputation building. Similar to how art exhibitors build their web of connections in the world of paintings, sculptures and installations, is that his or her opinion and network becomes valuable and increasingly sought after. Essentially a social media content curator becomes a professional and trusted filter for those who are looking for a particular type of news, content, or topic. An organization or professional individual can expand their content calendar by curating content to meet the needs of their targeted demographic. One can create original content and support that with content curation. But always credit and link back to those who outsource from!
